Getting the Blog Started

Hello to all of my EDUC 8823 compatriots. I hope that others are doing well with the blog set up and starting the course.

The process was pretty easy for me with the exception of choosing colours . I finally chose a family picture to put up and then chose a template to match that. I did have a bit of trouble with the picture as it wouldn't recognize the url for where the picture is on our website; so, I had to upload from my computer instead. I'm not sure what the problem was there, but it was easy to work around.

My initial reaction was happiness that we are using a blog space where it is possible to restrict access. I know that some believe that all blogs should be for everyone, but I believe that everyone should get to choose with whom they share what. I would object to an assignment where students were required to post to the internet at large. It should always be a choice.

Hi Lisa,

Let's see if this works now. Running the steeple sounds great! I have always wondered what it would be like.

Talk to you later!

It worked!

In your picture it looks like that is your husband and baby? How long have you been married and how old is your baby?

Thanks for checking it for me Don.

Steeple is a lot of fun. I got to be involved the first year women competed in it which was cool. I was internationally ranked briefly even though my time wouldn't even place in most college meets now.

Brian and I were married in June 2005 and Kadin was born here in Belgium in January 2007. So, he has just hit the walking and sort of talking age which is lots of fun. Do you have family around?

I do, I have been married for 20 years this coming May. I have two sons, one is 18 and getting ready to graduate and the other is 16. My 18 year old is joining the Army National Guard this summer and then enrolling into college in the fall. My 16 year old is a great athlete in the high hurdles and 400meters. However, he does race in some Tris with me during the summer which is pretty good for us.

Are you from Belgium or how did you guys get there if you are not?

Don,

It must be both exciting and nerve wracking to have your children ready to strike out on their own. It is great that they both sound like people you can be friends with as they enter adulthood now. I love that my parents are some of my best friends now.

We are more standardly from Austin, TX. Our time in Belgium is short term (three years) and is for my husband's job. He is on assignment to a research facility on the university campus here. We are loving having the chance to travel around Europe.
